Dragonfly Muse

Dragonfly Muse ©Morri (sold)

acrylic on canvas

the shapeshifter.

ancient of days,

catcher of light.

This painting, like many of mine do, went through changes. It was titled Water Lilies II and was just that..second in a series of water lilies.

A couple saw it in one of my shows and she felt a connection to this piece. So it was reserved, by her husband, for a birthday present for her.

beyond that–the story, as there always is…

The painting hung in the same spot in my home gallery.. before the show and after. I am quite fond of water lilies..and all that circles in and out of that world. So I enjoyed painting this..and then stepping into it when I passed by. Alas, I always felt something was missing. When the birthday was nearing I decided to talk to the client about my thoughts. I told him I wanted to add something..and he gave me complete freedom to do as I wished. I visited the waterlilies around our docks and I knew…dragonfly. (That led me to researching their history and symbolic meaning).

 Dragonfly muse, indeed.

Added Post Note: Unbelievable how much time has passed since I last visited here and left a few words..such good intentions on my part! I am continuously making changes in my life to free up time & rid myself of negative energies.

Life is wonderfully busy…and so very very sweet! I feel no hurried pressures..allowing all to unfold when and if it is meant to be. It will be interesting to see how these new life chapters are written. Let it begin…I’lI have a brush in hand.

I hope to return soon. Until then…

Happiest thoughts,

Ps As noted in a comment below..this unfinished post was an accident. Yet..maybe not. :)

Texture in art and in life.

Remembrance ©Morri # I ( cropped area )

I love texture.

This cropped area of Remembrance makes me happy..energies + colors + texture. Layers upon layers of paint and paintings from beneath. Brush strokes overlapping and intertwined…creating depth, like chapters in life.

Painted for an exhibition last year, it was the first of a new still-life series with black and white checks somewhere within. I think I’m done–possibly maybe..

Janelle Monae (where have you been in my life?)

Love her moves, her message, and her style!

The Encounter ©Morri (cropped from the original larger painting)

I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads.

Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel.

~ Rosalia de Castro

I thought this crop of The Encounter painting fitting as I’m on a new path(s). I hope the panther in the painting will forgive me for cropping her out. Perhaps at another time, I will post the entire painting. After all..she was the encountered.

Anyway I signed up for a website a few years was a special, thus a great price. The time for the renewal is fast approaching and the cost is a lot more $. I never felt comfortable within that format…not easy for a technically challenged soul. I disliked logging in one venue to work on the website and coming here to work on the blog. I don’t know about you, but I am quite weary of passwords. :~O

Also..this was to be the year of simplifying. So I thought why not move my website here with my blog. Much more to do, so I will continue working on it. I want to have several portfolio genre’s, but for now it will only be paintings with a few mixed media and collage sprinkled in. I thought it decent enough to publish..besides my brain is tired.

I am thinking that is all I will say tonight. Now that I have my website and blog all in one place I feel more motivated to visit here. I’ve been fairly quiet for a few years..very sketchy blogging. I think that is over now.

Back soon to settle in more and write a real post. Like Rosalia de Castro’s quoted words, I don’t know where this leads…yet I’m inspired!

Good energies to you!

Song of choice tonight: “They” by Jem. Nothing to do with this post…just because the message appeals to me. I am becoming more and more of a rule breaker–quietly and politely so..of course. :) No more pretending or playing the “games” (esp about people) makes for a much happier & peaceful life!

holding on

letting go.

I cannot believe how much time has slipped by! Some time back, I said this would be a time of practicing patience. I had no idea it would be this long. I think I started this journey in early 2013.

Yet..I have no regrets.

For a spell I felt worried and guilty for not being in the if had to work on art pieces. Now I’ve made peace with it..the studio will be there when the time is right for my return. The time is very near..and when I do: I will work from an entirely different energy..not for classes/workshops, shows, commissions…

The passion-flower painting and the other paintings I did earlier this year (for the two shows) were the beginning of a new direction. One direction–attempting to express the energies I see or feel around me, even more. Perhaps you can see those energies within this piece?

I will post the other pieces soon. I am eager to work on the new series and ideas. Series and ideas that have been rambling around the halls of my mind while I’ve been on this art sabbatical.

In the mean time, I continue crossing things off my list..a list of culling, simplifying, organizing, planting of gardens, resigning (from clubs/obligations), and renovating.

This has been life changing for me..

♥ I found time to step away from the world..enjoying my gardens and kitchen. I’ve always loved gardening but cooking, not so much. Now cooking is one of my fondest curiosities. I knew beyond yoga and actual meditation that gardening and painting are meditative..I had no idea culinary ventures are as well. Perhaps I’ll eventually post some of my successes and failures. ha

♥ From the garden:

In honor of nature (and with gratefulness) for the passion-flower painting source, a few of my passion-flower shots. I have more photos & some stories to share concerning my passion-flowers and the Gulf Fritillary Butterflies,, Caterpillars, Chrysalises, and me. What I believe were magical moments ..

I have a lot more photos from my worlds & worlds within worlds. Though not working in the studio, I’ve been taking photos..almost daily.

♥ Returning to the “quiet” and nature has allowed signs and confirmations to appear in my life again. Life is such a mysterious puzzle..yes? I used to write of such things on my previous blog gypsy-heart, I am. MUCH has changed since then..not just my art but my life. Thankfully..positively so! I almost removed that blog..but I still receive notes from people out there. Just had such a note this week concerning a post from the past–> The Sign. So I will leave it be as long as it continues to help or inspire even one person.

Working again on our Drayton Island projects.. Here’s the 1880 house in process:

More photos and updates to come.

Well, enough for tonight. I forgot how much I enjoy this journaling format. I’ve neglected posting here, Facebook consumed my on-line time the last few years. I pondered deactivating or even deleting my accounts there, then something lovely and positive happens. So will leave it be for now. Alas, I believe my on-line time will be mainly here.

before I go..

Here’s one of the faces/masks…the least shy:

Last but not least..

Music video choice for tonight is—>Mystery of Life – Nickodemus (just because..)

So get up and dance (as I am)..I know you will want to!

There is a

inside you

to burst

open into

Here are my brief thoughts this week…

The exhibition was wonderful, especially the gathering of friends (old and new) and guests. Afterward a large group of us walked down the street for a wonderful dinner. What a special time that was..a perfect way to end an opening night.

Not many photos, as I forgot to arrange it. I will take a photo of the work hanging before we take it down next month. Below is one photo kindly sent to me..friends, guests, and me (in the green scarf). I will have to post an image of the scarf in honor of coming spring and it has black birds on it. Black birds are in quite a few of my pieces in this show..crows and Redwing.

“Looking out..from Within” solo exhibition – Morri (3-7-2014)

I like this photo because you can see a wee bit of the hall. I love the old church windows. I so regret not shooting photos of the room before people started arriving. In the center of the large hall of old wood floors was an area to sit and view the work or to simply rest. The square area was created out of old church pews facing out. If still there when I return I will certainly get a photo.

Some music events are happening this month..and I like that my work will be there while music fills the room. In fact, we may attend one of the events. A singer described as a torch singer .. cabaret style. Of course, I will tell you more if we travel back for her.

I believe I mentioned in my last post it all unfolded very quickly, so It was very hectic during the weeks leading up it. Then after, the weekend seemed almost a blur.

Come Monday though…

I was back in my little hermit world and all was sweetly quiet again.

All week I have been busy, quietly and productively preparing by clearing out spaces. Literal spaces as in rooms in our home..but also within. Clearing the areas and energies making way for creative and spiritual discoveries and for a living gallery here.

Well, I am meandering in thoughts & plans….enough.

last week I did not post a music do those words even count?

Tonight I chose this

No rhyme or reason..or connection to this post. Just because, it made me want to dance….

never miss an opportunity to dance, dear hearts

Until next week…

wishing you wondrous days & nights,
